Joe has lived in the Pasadena area for most of his life. He learned the game from his father when he was a child, spending many evenings at Arroyo Seco. Now Joe has been teaching at Arroyo Seco since 2004. His golf career started in 1987. He coached players of all levels. Before he started teaching golf, Joe’s sports background was baseball, having played and coached at the college level. Early in his golf career, he worked under Master PGA Professional, Hal Wray, a true gentleman of the game. Mr. Wray was also a professional baseball player back in the 1930's‚ so there was a connection from the start. He introduced him to an athletic style of teaching, using other sports movements like baseball and tennis to help explain how the golf swing works.  He has three main goals in his golf lessons. First, he wants students to forget all of the myths in the swing and to use the natural motion of their body. Second, he wants them to understand what is supposed to happen in the swing, why, and what the great ball strikers do. Third, he also wants students to understand "connection" and how it applies not only to golf but all sports and athletic motions. Joe uses other hobbies and sports movements like baseball, skiing, bowling and tennis to help explain how the golf swing works.

Joe is currently the Occidental College as men’s and women’s swing coach.

All lessons require range ball that may be purchased at the starter window.  They are not included in lessons.

However, putting and chipping lessons will not require range balls.
